Edirne Health Services Vocational School started its academic teaching process in 1988 after the decision made at the meeting  of the Institute of Higher Education on the 24th of November in 1987 and by the declaration of the addition of the educational programs within the Edirne Vocational School, namely Anesthesia, Medical Documentation and Secretarial Work, Medical Laboratory and Nursing, to our school including new academic programs such as Radiology, Audiometry and Prothesis-Orthesis. The Nursing Program was transferred to Edirne Vocational School of Health since 1997.

 The educational programs that were started in our school –Radiology, Anesthesia, Audiometry, Prothesis-Ortesis, Medical Documentation and Secretarial Work and Medical Laboratory, aim to bring up the human force (Health Technician) that is needed for a better health services facility and also to satisfy the requirement for the assistant health workers needed by our country. In the Prothesis-Orthesis department, it is possible to produce assistant-helper-equipments for the patients who have disorders in their body for various reasons by which they will feel themselves more comfortable in their daily lives

Currently, we have enough classrooms and offices both for our staff and our students. There is also appropriate educational material, equipment and other devices for each program and they are made use of accordingly.

As our school is located at the Güllapoğlu area of the university, students mainly use the dormitory of Higher Education that is situated in the same area.

Our school is located within the Güllapoğlu area of the university together with Sabancı Cultural Center, dining hall, classroms and a cafeteria. The minibuses from the city center go through the campus and school therefore this makes the transportation easier for the students.

Two professors, two assistant professors and four lecturers have been working at the school. Additionally, 56 students at the Prothesis-Orthesis, 65 students at the Radiology, 58 students at the Audiometry, 82 students at the Anesthesia, 84 students at the Medical Laboratory and 72 students at the Medical Documentation and Secretarial Work have been continuing their education with the total number of 417.

The institutions mentioned above are the ones that have an important position especially in the health sector. Those institutions have a high level of workforce. More than 100 staff have been recruited in each. Their distance to our school is 250 km at most.



Physical Structure
Our school consists of four floors and is situated on a total of 43 62 m2 area. The classes are on the 1 st and 2nd floor while managerial personnel rooms are on the 3rd and academic staff rooms are on the 4th. There are 11 classrooms, 1 medical laboratory, 1 computer lab, 1 prothesis-orthesis workplace, 1 meeting room, 7 offices belonging to managerial personnel, 9 offices belonging to academic staff, 1 storage, 2 archives rooms, and 1 canteen for the students at school. Necessary arrangements have been realized so as to create a better, more beautiful and a healthier educational environment for our students. Our school is located in the Balkan Campus therefore students are able to make use of Selimiye Student Dormitory for accommodation, Menza dining hall for nutrition, Medico-Social Unit for psychological counseling and guidance and minor health problems and also the library to obtain supportive information for educational and academic facilities all of which are located in the same area.

Tehnical Resources

In the Prothesis-Orthesis workplace of our school, patients are given health service by producing necessary prothesis-orthesis work depending on their needs. This service constitutes a remarkable place for the deparment's students since students have the opportunity of monitoring the practical implementations in the real-world setting. Computer lab at the school is arranged in such a way that each student can have an access for a computer. In our medical laboratory, there are equipment-instruments and latest-technology production microscopes that allow our students to make experiments and observations. Additionally, there are technical equipments set up in 7 classrooms to realize more effective teaching both visually and audioly.
